Storytelling has been one of the most effective tools for sharing information with others. Stories that incorporate data are more convincing than those based on anecdotes. Multiple factors go into making effective storytelling: Narrative, Visuals and Data. In this session, Rajneet emphasized the 3 components of a compelling story: Flow, Message and Drama. The flow to establish a friendly structure to the story with interesting touchpoints for driving the message relevant to the audience and components at the micro-level in the form of an executive summary, storyboard, supporting data, examples, hypothesis, humour, etc.

Rajneet also delved into visual encoding – the language of visualization and applying the learnings to the selection of optimal data archetypes. The session was made highly interesting through discussions embedded with methodologies, case studies, concepts and stories.
